Jubilee Gives Royal Boost to Jukes
The recent Queen’s Platinum Jubilee saw a massive 22% upturn in jukebox revenues, says leading supplier TouchTunes/Soundnet.
“This is extra cash in the jukebox compared to the previous weeks,” says TouchTunes/Soundnet’s Toby Hoyte. “It is a great result and even better than we had anticipated.”
TouchTunes created a dedicated Jubilee playlist for its digital jukebox customers and this appears to have been popular with people visiting pubs during the holiday. Sound Leisure digital jukeboxes also had a boost in income during the Jubilee with revenues increased by 17 per cent.
The jukebox revenue figures buck the trend reported in the press, which claims that pub trade overall in the UK only increased by a moderate 5% during the Jubilee weekend (figures supplied by CGA and NielsenIQ).
“We know that some people are saying that pubs didn’t do as well as expected over the Bank Holiday but from what we could see, our customers certainly did good trade and everyone raised a glass or two to Her Majesty, as well as enjoying some great music,” continues Toby. “Figures like this prove how important jukeboxes are in creating atmosphere, increasing dwell time and creating valuable income. If anyone reading this thinks their jukeboxes could be performing better – just get in touch.”
