The simplicity of installation offered by the TouchTunes Playdium jukebox, is proving to be a major bonus for operators. Marc Bird, Managing Director of Coventry based jukebox specialists, Leisureplay, believes the R&D commitment made by TouchTunes, recently estimated to be 20% of turnover by Chairman and CEO, Charles Goldstuck, has not only resulted in the creation of the industry’s smartest jukebox, but also one which delivers significant operational benefits.
Marc Bird explained:
“When a product is described as being clever or smart you tend to focus on how it interfaces with consumers or users but there’s more to the Playdium than that. Of course the ‘talk about’ features are going to be the way in which Playdium establishes an intuitive relationship with end-users or how the tiles in the carousel rotate periodically to attract attention. However, the technology has also been harnessed to make installation so very simple. In the event of a service call on a machine, anyone with limited experience or knowledge could resolve the issue by simply replacing the core and requesting the original settings from the TouchTunes server with the push of just one button. It’s a major plus for a business such as ours.”
The Playdium, which was officially launched in the UK at ACOS, has a two piece modular design, enabling an installation to be completed swiftly and quickly by a single staff member. Playdium has gained a reputation amongst US operators as representing the next generation entertainment platform which allows venues to select from a variety of music profiles to tailor the experience to suit their location and customer base. The smart jukebox learns from the music selected and adapts over time to intuitively highlight songs, artists and search results that are most relevant. Created by TouchTunes to be an entertainment centrepiece, Playdium also boasts online diagnostics for enhanced reliability. The TouchTunes App has been operating successfully in North America for more than five years and is currently generating more than 3 million plays a week.
